
Keith Spengel CLU®, CLTC®, CFP®

Keith started with Northwestern Mutual in 1990 and built his first business ,(Spengel Financial,) in his hometown of McHenry, IL. Keith and Tom McBreen began partnering in 2012 which lead to the co founding of Symphony financial in 2016.
Keith holds the Certified Financial Planning (CFP), Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) and Long-Term Care (CLTC) designations. He supports and is a member of FINSECA and is a Life and Qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table since 1994. He is also a perennial member of the MDRT’s prestigious Top of the Table. Awards include: Northwestern Mutual Forum, National Quality Award, Master Achievement Award. Keith has a BA degree in Marketing from the University of Iowa.
Most recently Keith has been recognized by Forbes as one of the Top 250 Financial Security Professionals in the country for 2021.
Keith is married to Trish and they have two sons, Ben and Dane, who all love their dog Scout. In his free time Keith loves to golf, travel, boat, and play guitar with his friends. He has a long list of charitable and civic participation and is currently focused on charities such as Evans Scholar Foundation, Mainstay Therapeutic Riding Center, and Great Lakes Adaptive Sports.

Tom McBreen CLU®, CFP®
Partner and Private Wealth Advisor
Tom has been a wealth management advisor with Northwestern Mutual since 1996. Tom and Keith Spengel began partnering in 2012 which lead to the co founding of Symphony financial in 2016.
Tom has been a Northwestern Mutual Forum member since 2002 and has been the recipient of numerous awards, including Bronze, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Lives Leader Summit, New Client Award, National Sales Achievement Award, and the Life Impact Award. Tom was awarded the #1 Advisor of the Year for 2012 at the Goris Financial Group. Tom is a Life and Qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table since 2000 and has reached Court of the Table and Top of the Table. He has earned his Certified Financial Underwriter (CLU) and his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designations. He graduated with a BS in Finance from Miami University.
Tom enjoys community involvement by supporting Boys Hope Girls Hope. Tom lives on the North Shore of Chicago with his wife, Kate, and their three daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, skiing, mountain biking, platform tennis, boating and traveling.

Robert W Bolt MBA, CLU®, RICP®
Partner and Private Wealth Advisor
Bob merged his advisory business into Symphony Financial in 2020 after ten years of running RWBolt Financial. Previously, he enjoyed a twenty-five-year career in the banking, investment banking and hedge fund industry, primarily structuring and financing the buyouts of companies to private equity firms. He is an expert in ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) strategies for ownership transitions having led the nation’s largest ESOP financing business.
Bob received his MBA from the University of Chicago and his BS from Purdue University. He has earned the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®) and Certified Life Underwriter (CLU®) designations. Northwestern Mutual has also designated Bob a Business and Estate Planning Specialist.
Bob is active in his community as a Board Member of Chicago Fellowship, past Board Member of The Night Ministry, host family for Safe Families for Children, Foster parent, and leader in his local church. He and his wife, Christa, have three daughters and two sons, enjoy golfing, skiing, biking, paddle tennis, and having a glass of wine with friends.

Joshua S Lerner CFP®, CLU®, RICP®

Josh has been a wealth management advisor with Northwestern Mutual since 2001. He joined Tom McBreen, Bob Bolt, and Keith Spengel in January 2023 as partner in Symphony Financial.
Josh has earned his Certified Financial Underwriter (CLU®) Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®) and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designations. He holds FINRA series 6, 7, and 63 licenses. Josh played wide receiver at Southern Methodist University (SMU) and graduated with a BA in broadcast journalism.
Active in his community, Josh coaches football at DePaul College Prep High School, and is involved in the GPF Foundation which raises awareness of the dangers of recreational drug use, and the treatment in the event of usage of adulterated drugs.
Josh lives with his wife Kelly, their two boys and eleven pets in the Roscoe Village neighborhood of Chicago. There is an aspiring Herpetologist in the house, so lots of reptiles! He and his family enjoy rooting for the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, Cubs, the DePaul Prep Rams and the SMU Mustangs.

Matt joined the Symphony Financial team in 2005 with a BS degree in Finance from Illinois State University. Matt holds his Series 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses as well as his Life, Accident and Health insurance licenses, and CLTC license.
Matt enjoys spending time with his wife, their three sons, and black lab. He is a big Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears fan. When he isn’t working, he also finds time for golf and being outdoors.

Paul joined Symphony Financial in 2017. Before joining the team, Paul traded European fixed income and equity futures and options.
He holds a BBA degree in economics from St. Norbert College, and has a financial modeling certificate from Illinois Institute of Technology. He is Series 7 and 63 licensed, and has a RICP® designation.
Paul ran his fourth Boston Marathon this year, making it his 15th marathon overall. He has completed 5 Ironman triathlons, raising money for families of fallen officers of the Chicago Police Department for his last two. When Paul is not working or training, he mentors young boys at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls on the city’s West side and enjoys cheering on the Chicago White Sox, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and the Chicago Bears.

Andrew joined Symphony Financial in 2015. Prior to that he spent four years at an independent wealth management firm as a Retirement Specialist. He holds his Series 7 and 66 securities licenses along with Life, Health, Property and Casualty insurance license.
Andrew received his BBA in Finance from the University of Iowa along with a Certificate in Entrepreneurial Management. He is currently working toward his CFP designation, expected to be completed in 2022. He and his wife Paige have two young children, along with a dog and cat. Andrew has a passion for technology and space exploration and enjoys time outdoors hiking, gardening and camping.

Matt joined Symphony Financial in 2015 after graduating from DePaul University with a BS in Business. He has his Series 66 and 7 securities licenses and is a licensed insurance agent for Life and Health. Additionally, he is a CFA® charterholder.
Matt enjoys traveling to visit family in the USA, Mexico, Ecuador, and Spain. He and his fiancée, Brittany, have a French Bulldog and a lilac-crowned Amazon, Bleu and Pancho. Matt spends his free time working out, playing basketball, and rooting for the Chicago Bulls.

Matt joined the Symphony team in January 2023. He has worked in the financial services industry for many years in institutional equity research and sales, as a financial products wholesaler, and as an advisor. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Ohio University. He holds a Life and Health Insurance license and is investment licensed.
Matt lives in Chicago in the Logan Square neighborhood with his longtime significant other. He is self-described as “very involved” in the Chicago restaurant scene and culture. He credits his significant other for sharing her food industry profession/passion with him. You’ll find Matt rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Chicago Cubs, Ohio University’s Bobcats and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Dennis joined the Symphony team in April 2022, and brought with him vast experience as a Wealth advisor, registered investment advisor.
Dennis is a CPA and an AICPA Personal Financial Specialist. He has his BS in accounting from the University of Dayton, an MBA in Finance from Loyola University of Chicago and a PMD from Harvard Business School.
Dennis lives with his wife in Lake Forest Illinois, and has three children and eight grandchildren. He’s a CrossFit and Golf enthusiast, and very active in his community. He sits on the Board of Directors for Presbyterian Homes, Illinois, the Board of Trustees, Emeritus for University of Dayton and the Board of Advisors for Catholic Charities of Chicago.

Mary joined the Symphony team in January 2023. She had worked for ten years at Northwestern Mutual as an Associate Financial Representative with Josh Lerner before joining Symphony Financial as our Director of Insurance Operations. She holds a Life, Accident, and Health Insurance license and graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Communication Studies.
Mary lives in Skokie with her husband and has a passion for photography and digital design.

Kathleen joined Symphony Financial in 2020 . Previously she worked in credit card operations, information technology, and as a 6-8th grade teacher. Kathleen has a BS in Business Administration, is Life and Health Insurance licensed, and LTC and SIE certified
Kathleen is an avid hiker and reader , and enjoys spending time with her family and 14 year old Labradoodle.

Loreen joined Symphony Financial in 2021. Prior to that, Loreen worked in sales management and business development in the media business, including many years at MONEY Magazine. She has a BS degree in Marketing from Miami University.
When she isn’t working, she enjoys yoga, traveling, and watercolor painting. Loreen also mentors high school students with PEAK, and is a volunteer and advisor to the BLOC, a nonprofit boxing club that trains, mentors and tutors kids . Additionally she is a volunteer at Northwestern hospital, and a substitute teacher at St. Benedict Preparatory school in Chicago.

Clayton joined the Symphony team in 2021. Previously he worked for JPMorgan Chase as a relationship banker and holds his Series 6 and 63 licenses and Life, Accident and Health insurance licenses. He has a BS in finance from Eastern Illinois University.
Clayton enjoys golfing, hiking, and spending time with his friends, family, and dog Auggie. He loves attending sporting events for his favorite teams: Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, St. Louis Cardinals, and University of Illinois’ football and basketball teams.

Mary Beth has been a part of the Symphony team since 1998. She had over 5 years prior experience in the Health Care industry as a recruiter and 12 years prior experience in the insurance industry before joining Symphony. Mary Beth holds her Long Term Care certification and Life and Health Insurance license. She has been a member of Kiwanis of McHenry for over 10 years representing Symphony Financial, which supports children in our communities and the world.
Mary Beth resides in the northwest suburbs with her husband Jim and has three adult sons, a granddaughter, and two dogs. She volunteers delivering holiday meals for families in need, actively supports Breast Care survivors, and is very active in her church. Mary Beth also enjoys walking, kayaking, gardening, movies, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Danny joined the Symphony team in April 2022. Previously he worked in the mortgage industry as a Jr. Loan Processor. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in History from DePaul University. He holds a Life and Health Insurance license.
Danny lives in Evanston, Il with his girlfriend and their cat, Caesar. In his free time, he likes working out, reading, gaming, and cheering on the Chicago Bulls and Green Bay Packers.

Daniel joined the Symphony team in June 2022. Previously he worked as a financial advisor in Chicago. Daniel is Life and Health insurance licensed and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a degree in International Business.
Daniel enjoys spending time with family, working out, and watching sports. His favorite teams include the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, and the New York Rangers.

Luke joined the Symphony team in June 2022. Previously he worked as a financial advisor. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Economics and a minor in Business Administration. He is Life and Health insurance licensed.
Originally from the Boston area, Luke now enjoys living in the city of Chicago, where he spends time with friends golfing, hiking, skiing, and attending concerts. As a Boston native, he’s a huge fan of the Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox, and Bruins.

Christy joined the Symphony team in January 2023. Previously she worked with Northwestern Mutual for nine years on Josh Lerner’s team. She also works as a professional singer and owned her own private voice studio until 2014. She has Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a Music minor from Monmouth College and is working toward earning a Master of Arts in Teaching.
Christy and her husband live in Skokie, and they have a son in college. They are all musicians…a singer, guitarist, and drummer! Three fabulous cats also live with them in Skokie. Christy loves gardening and spends as much time in hers as she can. She supports several organizations in land conservancy and environmental justice, and she is a published novelist, working on her second.

Esther joined Symphony Financial in October 2022. Prior to joining our team, she worked as a teacher educating elementary school students throughout the Chicago suburbs.
Esther graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Illinois State University.
She is currently living near Lake Michigan and enjoys going to the beach. Her free time is spent with friends and family, and she enjoys practicing yoga, reading and listening to Taylor Swift’s latest music.

Ryan joined the Symphony team in July 2023. Prior to joining Symphony, he was a personal trainer and strength/conditioning coach. He earned a bachelor’s degree from The University of St. Thomas in 2017. He is studying to complete investment licensing. Ryan holds his IL life and health insurance license.
Ryan lives in Glenview, and still does personal training in the early hours of the day. After work he does his own workouts which often include runs outside. He's a self-described "foodie," and enjoys all of the opportunities to try new spots in Chicago. He's a fan of EDM music, gets to festivals and concerts often, and is a 100% Chicago sports fan. Go Bears, White Sox, and Bulls!
